Want to RGH on my own need advice

So I want to RGH an Xbox 360 on my own, but I need advice on a few things. I'll ask the first question and hopefully after a few replies I'll ask another.

Here goes: I'm a noob, but I want to do this on my own. That being said, my first question is if I can choose which type of xbox 360 to RGH (slim/phat) which should I get to mod? I've heard there are some really tiny solder points on the corona and as a n00b that might be too much for me to handle.
