Have you been missing Pandora lately? Though Gearbox aren't working on Borderlands 3 right now, we will be returning in the form of the collaboration between the studio and Telltale Games in adventure title Tales from the Borderlands, and last night some more plot details on the game have been revealed at the annual South by Southwest festival in Austin, Texas. During the panel, attended by Polygon, Telltale's Kevin Bruner & Harrison Pink and Borderlands 2 writer Anthony Burch revealed that Fiona's (whose name we learned from the reveal trailer) travelling companion is named Rhys and is a "cybernetically enhanced Hyperion company man."

Both characters will be playable as the two are our de facto "protagonists" but it seems you'll actually be playing the events as told retrospectively by those characters. Most intriguingly, it's established - with the two characters having different backgrounds and motivations - that their versions of the story may be slightly twisted depending on who's telling it, with Kevin Bruner saying: "You never really play what actually happened, you're playing this Big Fish version of what happened"
Fiona and Rhys will also have their own set of skills to use to their advantage during the game, with Fiona being the charismatic charmer of the pair, while Rhys uses his cybernetic Hyperion-made arm to his advantage for things like hacking doors and other electronics in the world. There'll also be some shooting in the game "in a Telltale kind of way."
The developers also want to make sure that this is absolutely a Borderlands game in tone with writer Anthony Burch saying "'Let's tell a story in this universe that's not specifically about the world savers, it's not about the badasses doing badass things - it's about schmos trying to get by,' and that makes the world feel much more real."
"Borderlands can be more than just shooting people in the face repeatedly. That it could be shooting people in the face repeatedly and then talking to them is a cool possibility for us."
