Recently got my xbox r-jtaged privately.

Got it home last night after it was away.

Been playing on it last night and today with skins and then a few games.

Left it on to go and hang washing out and came back 5 mins later to find 3 red lights on the console and my tv on stand by

So switched it off and turned it back on still the same.

I have had a look on the motherboard i cant see any signs of anything blown. Doesn't look like anything is touching capaistor

Is it fix able ?

Can i take the rjtag off and put it on a different console??

Any advice please

Preventing Xbox 360 Jasper/Kronos from RROD

Hey guys,

I was wondering what procedures are advised/beneficial to prevent a Jasper/Kronos(bought from eBay) from potentially receiving rrod in the future. I know that Jaspers are known for their long-term stability and very low odds of receiving hardware failures, but i always like to be safe anyways.

This a list of things that i've heard are good to prevent any xbox from getting rrod in the future:

1. Replacing Kronos 1st gen gpu heatsink with the 2nd gen copper gpu heatsink
2. Replacing aluminum cpu heatsink with copper cpu heatsink
3. Reapplying thermal paste both cpu/gpu
4. 12v fan mod
5. Ram thermalpads, heatsinks
6. Xclamp mods (now i've heard this can actually mess up the box if done slightly wrong)
a. I've heard of numerous types, like team hybrid's advanced xclamp mod.
b. Is it better to just buy some random bolts from ebay that will do the job. do the bolts have to be very particular (like a particular material, metal)
c. I wouldn't want to drill any holes into the xclamp location, so i'd prefer a way that doesn't require drilling
d. what are some good, easy kits for this

What are some things on this list that are worth doing on a working jasper.I bought my jasper on ebay from someone who repairs numerous xboxes and he told me that my xbox didn't have any previous rrod/gpu failures.

I know the saying "If it ain't broken, dont fix it" is referred to commonly on this forum, is it better to just not touch the xbox until it breaks?

thanks alot for the help

RGH Trinity resistor replacement

$

Hello guys. I need to know how to replace resistor r4d4 on my trinity. I will post pictures of my tracefixes i had to use and the wiring of my rgh.

The following is and explanation of how i accidentally removed this resistor.

I was working on my first rgh attempt on a trinity and it was going perfectly. I had it giving almost instant boots about 7 out of 10 times with the rev c coolrunner and the included wires. I put it back in the case and it was having very inconsistent boot times so i took it out and was gonna move the cpu reset wire and hope it helped boot times. i moved it around a few times then I was gonna try wrapping it around the heatsink. I pulled up the cpu reset point (ft4r2) when i was doing this. The broken point caused instant red dot on rol board. So I did the tracefix and ran a wire from c5r11 to the r4d4 resistor. I went to put the heatsink on and realized i ran the tracefix wire through the wholes the heatsink legs went in. So i was going to remove the tracefix wire from the c5r11 to run it through the whole beside the heatsink. I accidentally pulled a little on the wire and r4d4 resister came off.:mad2:

So I googled the fix for r4d4 and i did what i thought the pictures showed and i got my console back to booting rgh and stock.
It takes about 30 minutes to an hour to get it to boot rgh out of the case, but stock is instant boot. I would like to be able to use this console for rgh again but it has terrible timing and it now has a resister on the cpu reset line missing.

My main questions are:

Will it cause damage to my console for the resistor to be missing? I think it is something like a 1.215k ohm resistor. I read somewhere. Can I just get a 1k ohm and a 200 ohm from radioshack and put them in line on my tracefix?

Is the routing of my tracefix what is causeing slow boots or is it the missing resistor?

Also i got my console to boot rgh and i left it on for hours playing a game. i then went to freestyle dash and it said the cpu was much hotter than the gpu and in slims im pretty sure they are integrated. so i felt the heatsink it felt normal temp. i felt the southbridge and it was almost unbearably hot.

Does the southbridge normally give off as much heat as the ram does? Do you think the overheating southbridge might have something to do with the missing resistor?

I have been afraid to even power on my console now because I'm afraid the missing resister might be doing damage.
I have attached photos i took of what i did to fix it but im still missing the resistor.

is this console still suitable for rgh? maybe put the rev c in a phat and try the cr3 pro on this one?

This is not a troubleshooting thread as the solution to this is fine for me. I was installing an R-JTAG and CR3 Pro on a Jasper and Corona earlier. For some strange reason, each time I want to use my JRP, I have to manually delete the firmware from the JRunner folder and reflash it with the firmware again for it to work. It's not a big issue as I don't mind doing it. The correct drivers etc are installed.

My NAND X works just fine when reading the consoles etc though..so I honestly don't know why I need to reflash it every time I need it to work.

Is there any insight to this?

I have a 360 phat, LiteOn drive with HDMI. I'm looking for someone local who can flash my 360. I had a seriously pro modder flash my 360 originally and even update the firmware for free but unfortunately he's an hour away so I'm hoping to find someone a little more local. I mostly see people in Raleigh or similar on Craigslist but I was curious if there was anyone located in Durham, NC? Thanks!

FIXED XBC - "Xtreme Style game partition not available"

I just flashed my benq drive to the 0800 firmware hoping that I could backup a few of my games. When I start the backup in Xbox Backup Creator, it gets to about 3% and then tells me "Xtreme Style game partition not available. Read failed"

How can I fix this??

And I say that as a fellow nerd - no disrespect at all!

As you can see from my pathetic sidebar, I'm a newbie. A newb. A noob. A n00b. But I'm not a moron. I read the rules. :cool2:

I'm a grown man, with a job, a wife, and a mortgage. I also collect electronics, various DIY projects, and own more screwdrivers than a typical hardware store. I also have a soldering iron and know how to use it. In fact, I now realize it's a crap one I bought at Radio Shack and need a better one (especially if I want to work with some of TX's products).

My biggest Xbox 360 achievement to date is fixing my old RROD'd Phat (Falcon). I did it the "right" way, with a heat gun, good quality thermal paste, replaced the X-clamps, etc. Works nice. My second-biggest achievement was buying a $13.00 refurbished wifi router, flashing it with DD-WRT, and setting it up as a wifi bridge for my old wifi-not-included Phat. I'm running out of inputs on the TV at this point.

Now I need to ask for some help on what exactly I need to buy in order to do what I want to do next, but I'll ask that elsewhere. And I'll try not to noob it up.

Rock on.

Greets, TX nerds. Said, as always, with pride from a fellow nerd.

I need some help, please. I'm having a hard time deciphering all the various products and keeping track of which method & mod gear is current and appropriate for me.

I know my machine is a Phat Falcon, my DVD drive is a Benq. So far, I have fixed the RROD (properly, not with a towel) and am feeling pleased with myself.

Now that I've voided the warranty (ha!), I need to keep going. I definitely want to make and play backups of my games. I have puppies. They chew on stuff. Blank DVD-DL's are even cheaper than used copies. I also want to scope out some of the homebrew stuff I've seen; there's a wicked-cool alternative dashboard I've seen that looks amazing. Gotta check that out.

But anyway... I need to figure out what to buy. Please correct me if I'm wrong.

I know I need the new R-JTAG for my model of Xbox. And since I have no other modding components, I'll be getting the Ultra Mega Deluxe pack.

I think I also need a CK3 (exact model?) in order to flash the DVD drive. Yes? My PC has onboard SATA. Do I also need the X360USB gizmo? (I think so; kindly verify.)

What else? Besides a bigger hard drive (later), a better soldering iron (now), and lots more free time.

I need to buy this stuff in stages, so I think the proper procedure is to start with the CK3 and/or the X360USB. Right? If I understand correctly, I'll be able to back up my discs and play those. But the homebrew stuff has to wait until I can afford the R-JTAG kit.

I appreciate the help. I promise to pay it back in kind, just as soon as I can.

Thanks in advance.

Black Ops 2 DLC Apocalypse announced - Zombies Mode returns to World War 1

It's been fun, Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. Treyarch and Activision have announced the game's final expansion, Apocalypse, a nostalgic outing which features characters from the original Black Ops and an adaptation of a map from Call of Duty: World at War. The pack's out 27th August on Xbox Live first, and will cost 1200 MP. Activision has partnered with Warner Bros band Avenged Sevenfold to feature the currently unreleased song "Shepherd of Fire" in Origins, the latest incarnation of Zombies Mode. "Famed" DC and Marvel comic artist Alex Ross has also contributed some art."Apocalypse is Treyarch's grand finale to Call of Duty: Black Ops II", Treyarch studio head Mark Lamia commented in a release. "It is the perfect culmination of our efforts and fan feedback, with two all-new multiplayer maps for players to experience for the first time and two fully reimagined fan-favourite multiplayer maps from past games - and Origins, our most epic Zombies experience to date. Apocalypse is a DLC pack that our fans will never forget."

The new multiplayer maps are Pod, Frost, Takeoff and Dig. Descriptions are below.
Pod: A failed utopian community from the 70's has left stacks of dilapidated residential pods nestled into an abandoned cliff side in Taiwan. Its residents long gone, the modernist compound now hosts frenetic combat as players must run atop the pods, as well as navigate their multi-tiered interiors for a strategic edge.

Frost: Fresh snow meets explosive gunpowder in this snow-capped European city, where the bridge over a frozen canal separates it into two sides, requiring players to employ multi-level traversal strategies to outsmart and ultimately outshoot their enemies.

Takeoff: Fans of "Stadium" from the original Call of Duty: Black Ops First Strike DLC will find themselves at home on "Takeoff." Marooned in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, this remote launch site is all about close-quarters combat, combining tight corners with open spaces for intense encounters.

Dig: An adaptation of the fan-favourite "Courtyard" from Call of Duty: World at War, where two archaeological dig sites in Afghanistan become the perfect playground for combatants eager for hectic, unceasing confrontations. Treyarch, has retained the spirit of "Courtyard" with two major chokepoints, a wide open layout and raised platforms, but has provided fans with a fresh take on the multitude of paths.

And here's the full write-up on Origins, which features a giant "robot abomination". They're definitely aiming to go out with a bang.
In addition to the four maps, Apocalypse also reveals Origins, the most horrifying and imaginative Zombies experience to date. Players will be deployed to Dieselpunk-stylised World War I-era France where they will encounter the return of the four original heroes from the very first Zombies map, Tank, Nikolai, Takeo, and Rictofen, as well as hordes of zombies that have overrun trenches and fields, as well as the ruins of a mysterious and ancient location.

Unleashed after the Germans unearthed the mysterious "Element 115," this next chapter in the Zombies legacy will explore the saga's origins as players reunite with an unlikely band of soldiers that come together to defeat the greatest evil the world has ever seen, using a period-specific arsenal that includes Wonder Weapons that harness supernatural powers, a diesel-drone and Mark IV tank, as well a new perk machine and power-ups - and that's just the start.

Players will need all the help they can get to succeed in defeating the undead, as well as evading an unprecedented 1,000-foot tall robot abomination. In this stylised undead adventure, they'll need every advantage if they have any hope of surviving one of Treyarch's deepest Zombies experiences to date.

Apocalypse forms part of the Black Ops 2 Season Pass. Assuming you didn't get the latter, are you planning to buy the former?

Free-to-play on Xbox "is the future and we have the freaking financial proof"

$

A month or two back I had the pleasure of chatting to Wargaming.net's Victor Kislyi, the man behind free-to-play hit World of Tanks (a game in which two forms of nerdiness collide - stat-heavy multiplayer and 20th century history). The fruits of that chat can be read in our latest issue, on sale now. Kislyi's a fearsome interviewee, marrying in-depth knowledge of the product to the charisma of a classier shade of mob boss. Here's what he had to say about free-to-play on Xbox platforms. With 60 million subscribers under Wargaming's belt, Kislyi isn't shy of taking credit for the business model's popularity (it made a formal debut on Xbox 360 with Toylogic's Happy Wars, released last year) and has been at some pains to convince Microsoft that it's the way forward."Microsoft is a huge company, with lots of partners - publishers and developers," he told me. "So yes, it does take some extra effort and political persistence to help them to realise how important it is for Microsoft and the Xbox platform to embrace free-to-play, digital, online elements.

"Because that's the future and we have the freaking financial proof," he went on. "That's how it works, and not only us, there are a couple of other big companies that are killing it with free-to-play online." League of Legends being the elephant in this particular room.
Microsoft has held up World of Tanks: Xbox 360 Edition (created in partnership with Day One Studios) as evidence that Xbox 360 will be around for years to come. Kislyi offered something in the way of corroboration, pointing out that free-to-play games turn a profit over months and years, not days, which makes on-going support vital.
"We can't do everything right now, and that's why we have to explain why we do what we do," he said. "This is our fate now, because these kinds of games aren't your typical Christmas retail bonanza, gone off the shelf after a couple of months, and you're working on another game. When you launch the game, that's when the work starts - this was true of the PC game, and it's true of the Xbox 360 game.
"The Day One guys, we gave them that experience - not every other company in the world has gone through this experience. Just be prepared that after open beta and launch, that's when the work begins - new content, bells and whistles, eSports, broadcasting features, clan wars, so many things around it. We'll be going on for the next minimum 10 years - I would say 20 years, it's a never-ending story.
"If you look at the PC version in Russia, it's our third anniversary, and we've put together so many new features and content since the launch, those are two different versions of the game now."
For more on the console port, check out my first look. It's a lot subtler than it may seem, on the strength of the below gameplay mash-up. Kislyi reckons an Xbox One version is a "no-brainer" once enough consoles have sold.
